JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry to support our Tullow Project in the Glasgow office.



Role-Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists
  • Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments
  • Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
  • Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
  • Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Monitor compliance with competence standards
  • Participate in incident investigations as required
  • Provide Piping Engineering Expertise
  • Provide input to piping and layout studies
  • Define piping requirements for technical scopes
  • Prepare required calculations and documentation to enable development of deliverables used in offshore workpacks and in the supply chain
  • Support the development of and / or develop requisitions for the procurement of piping related material and equipment
  • Undertake checking of piping deliverables
  • Provide support to the Lead Piping Engineer and the project delivery team
  • Resolve piping related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards
  • Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of piping designs
  • Provide support for inter-discipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking
  • Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement
  • Utilise software tools in design development and checking (eg Navisworks, E3D)

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
  • Provide discipline support to the business
  • Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realised
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation
  • Proficient in scope definition


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • BSc, BEng or equivalent professional qualification or HND or equivalent with extensive relevant experience in a similar role
