We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Process CAD Engineer, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the CAD/BIM Manager, the Senior Process CAD Engineer shall produce, maintain, and implement CAD strategy, including standards, manuals, environment, manage pipe specifications, templates, content, training material, and Quality Assurance procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical output of the activity, and for planning, reporting, and managing Process CAD workload as well as provide CAD Coordination of the Process Systems CAD data in the RR SMR project and the provision of CAD expertise and training when required for the wider RR SMR project team.

Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role:

  • Plan the activity in coordination with client departments, and the Mechanical CAD Lead.
  • Develop the required process CAD environment, processes, standards, pipe specifications, and content necessary to produce P&IDs, 3D models, general arrangement drawings, layout drawings, isometrics, manufacturing and assembly drawings, schedules (i.e., BoMs).
  • Lead the production of P&IDs, 3D models, layout drawings, isometrics, manufacturing and assembly drawings, schedules (i.e., BoMs)
  • Provide with technical support to junior CAD Engineers and to the wider project team.
  • Carry out quality assurance checks and reports as well as review and acceptance support for CAD information.
  • Support other CAD activities as required.
  • The above according to agreed timescales, to the highest quality, and in accordance with industry, and project standards.

The Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Initial Environment Set Up:
  • Ideally, the candidate shall have experience setting up Process Engineering CAD environments.
  • Including engagement with relevant stakeholders to communicate IT related requirements, CAD toolkit selection, project defaults set-up, 2D and 3D content libraries creation, attribution setting up, CAD templates creation, and develop pipe specifications, in accordance with project and industry standards and best practice.
  1. Ongoing Tool Administration:
  • The candidate must be a strong administrator of Process CAD production environments including the provision of technical support, coordinated system replacements and upgrades, the maintenance of 2D and 3D content libraries and pipe specs.
  • Maintaining the data model, PLM integration, provision of training, engagement with IT and CAD system vendor, etc.
  1. CAD Toolkit:

Experienced with as many as possible of the following CAD tools:

SIEMENS NX Diagramming and Mechanical Routing, (training can be provided)

Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk REVIT (MEP Tools), AVEVA PDMS or E3D.

Experienced in the use of at least one of the following PLM / PDM tools:

SIEMENS Teamcenter, Autodesk VAULT, DS PDM or 3D EXPERIENCE.

Experienced in the use of the following BIM Coordination tools:

Autodesk Navisworks Simulate, Autodesk Navisworks Manage.

Confident in the use of the following productivity tools:

MS Office (Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc )

  1. CAD Production:

The candidate must be:

  • Proficient in the production of 2D drafting and 3D modelling of Process CAD information.
  • Experienced in highly regulated construction projects.
  • Experienced in producing Process system diagrams, i.e., P&IDs, routing of pipework, equipment and associated 3D models, general arrangement and layout drawings, isometric drawings, manufacturing drawings, BoMs, etc.
  • The candidate must be ready to support other CAD activities if required.
  1. Technical Authoring:

The candidate must have experience writing and maintaining technical documentation such as CAD strategy, CAD standards, manuals, guidance, best practice, etc.

Qualifications & Training:

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent working experience.

Pay and Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary of between 45,000- 55,000 plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - 2200, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
