What’s the Job?

Social media is a key strategic level for ghd’s brand building of the positioning and the equity. Working across multiple internal stakeholders (Digital Marketing & SEO agency, PR, Global Innovation & Promotions teams, Global Education and Product Development Marketing), this role will own the global strategic direction and lead the consumer launch strategy for new products, the design assets, the always-on development, and execution of ghd’s social media activity for owned and paid, and partly on earned working closing with Influencer Marketing.

Based in London and reporting to the Interim Head of Influencer & PR Marketing , the role has global responsibility, working with ghd’s international markets to ensure localized social activity is executed on strategy and in accordance with global brand guidelines. The role demands an experienced social manager with a luxury brand/editorial background, organised and with strong creativity, able to take immediate action and be incredibly reactive to nowadays social calendar opportunities that arise on the daily basis.

What will I do?

Social

  • Lead all global social media channels for ghd in owned and paid, with responsibility for delivering ongoing improvement across KPIs and continuing audience growth/acquisition.
  • Oversee community management with direct report and sign-off a detailed bi-weekly content calendar for all markets. Lead bi-weekly status calls with all ghd international markets to support/enable best-in-class social activation and localization of global plans
  • Be the internal champion and the voice for social media activations throughout the business.
  • Content Creation - Own the strategic input for social assets for global toolkit development for new launches and/or commercial pushes as well as always-on content on a weekly basis. Clear understanding of SEO and ecommerce to ensure we drive search and conversion.
  • Owning and developing short term local activation plans
  • Providing PR/Education & Marketing Teams with social support for Events
  • Working closely with PR team on influencer activations - Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that social media is integrated into all projects and activities (PR, education, instore activation and events) as a key strategic pillar for the brand.
  • Oversee the monitoring, measurement (including KPI setting) and regular reporting of owned channels, broader web and social trends - Monitor KPIs to drive Reach, Engagement, Traffic and Conversion
  • Lead regular status meetings to update wider business on social performance, trends and competitor landscape.
  • Present in key meetings to senior management and markets as the owner of the social media arena.
  • Continuously be abreast of new and improved social media platforms and features and ensure it is integrated in the optimisation of toolkits, assets and strategy.
  • Inject high levels of creativity into assets with the right tone of voice.
  • Work incredibly close and hand in hand with Influencer Marketing to ensure a holistic and stronger integrations with earned media.
  • Have monthly meetings with the markets to ensure alignment globally.
  • Work with agencies for KPIs and content creation.

Paid Social

  • Work with PR Team & Social Media Exec on identifying opportunities for Paid support.
  • Source relevant Influencers for short term activations.
  • Manage briefing process of Influencers from beginning to end.
  • Identifying potential boosted opportunities; creating content, briefing paid social agency.
  • Monitoring results to inform future paid activity.
  • Identify relevant brand collaborations & drive future partnerships.

Content Creation

  • Working on behalf of multiple internal stakeholders, own the design and delivery of ghd’s ongoing global content development plan.
  • Produce both long and short-form written, visual and video content for online and offline touchpoints to support product launches, always-on and topical/reactive activity layers (hero, hub, hygiene)
  • Produce, art direct and edit how-to videos, GIFs, short videos, memes and reportage for use across a variety of channels and with a sensitivity to local market needs.
  • Be incredibly reactive to social moments across the world and create content accordingly. Motivate that behaviour with the markets.
  • Work with global PR team to devise and leverage influencer content

People Development

  • Manage one direct report and ghd’s global social media agency
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of the team at both a group and individual level and build succession plan for long term development
  • Develop robust KPI’s for performance and ensure performance is monitored and developed where appropriate

What skills and qualities will I need?

  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of editorial and social media, with experience in the hair/beauty sector
  • A writer/editor with the ability to tie together a narrative that translates key campaign messaging into compelling stories for digital, social and point of sale.
  • A strategic thinker who uses insight to drive strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of how to produce SEO optimized content.
  • Minimum of seven years of having worked in an in-house or agency editorial/social media/content role.
  • Well organised and very agile, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and reactive environment.
  • A sparky and pro-active ideas person who isn’t afraid to challenge convention – a resilient risk-taker.
  • Strong collaborator who excels within a team and shares knowledge with wider brand.
