Senior Engineer - Remote - to £100k
The Opportunity:

They want individuals to be part of the team that is building a consumer style SaaS platform with websites and apps that bring together consumers and suppliers offering descriptive, predictive and prescriptive data insights.
Key responsibilities:
- Be part of building a team and culture that is focused data as a source of insight to deliver the product vision
- Working closely with the team lead and architect to define and build services that elegantly scale, are automation first, quickly extensible in a DevOps model
- Contribute to the wider tech and product strategy via a transparent, asynchronous culture
- Pick new work autonomously, working to unblock yourself when stuck either by reaching out for help or finding other solutions in an asynchronous, remote, distributed culture
- Writing clear documentation, tests, and recommendations for technical problems
- Providing compassionate pairing opportunities, and code reviews to encourage the growth of others, including providing thoughtful, constructive feedback
The Person:
There are a number of core technical skills listed below that you will be expected to have but it is worth noting the team will be hiring based around intellect, behaviours & mindset as well as skills & knowledge. They want individuals who recognise that perfect is not always possible and as a result have awareness of their own flaws. Engineers who use this insight to ensure they work in collaboration with others to achieve the best outcomes possible and strive for excellence. The culture is one of openness and an acceptance that people are effective in different ways. They believe that staff should be allowed to operate where and how they want if that is how they are most effective. The is reinforced by there adoption of a fully remote working policy
Technical Skills
- Expertise and proven work experience in one of the JVM Languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala, Groovy, Clojure, Fantom, Ceylon, Jython)
- Evidence of recent work in a Micro-services environment
- Fully familiar with operating to DevOps Model
- Operated in a data centric, automation led environment
- Have experience of and a passion for building simple, elegant commercial software products
The role is predominantly remote with really occasional travel to London (once a quarter / twice a year) so a Cambridgeshire / East Anglia location will work really well.
