Job Description

The Role - Senior Software Engineer

At Ophelos, we are revolutionising how data flows between us and our clients. Our small but dynamic I/O Squad plays a critical role in bridging this gap, ensuring seamless integration and information exchange. As we expand across Europe, we are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a passion for quality and innovation to join our team.

Your mission will be to build a robust and scalable API platform to empower clients and markets to self-onboard and integrate with Ophelos’ services. Your work will directly impact the success of our expansion.

Our tech stack: Ruby on Rails 7, Hotwire (Turbo, Stimulus), View Components, Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, Redis, Serverless, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, ElastiCache), GitHub

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Design, implement and deliver software features such as our developer dashboard to help external teams manage and debug the data integration process
  • Collaborate as part of a close & multi-disciplinary team. Your work will have meaningful and measurable impact on our organisation and products
  • Build and maintain APIs capable of handling high-volume data ingestion from clients
  • Own and deliver key projects such as batch file handling and transitioning existing integrations to our new API platform
  • Mentor other members of the team to ensure technical excellence and continuously raise the bar when it comes to engineering standards.
  • Innovate by sharing your ideas with the team and build products that make an incredibly impactful difference to society and people’s lives

About you

More than anything, we are interested in your general experience as a software developer and your problem-solving approach. However, some experience in the following is important for this role:

  • Proficiency with Ruby on Rails is required, as it is our primary technology.
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining public-facing APIs.
  • Appreciation of clean architecture and design patterns and understanding of the benefits of test-driven code.
  • Ownership and self-motivation to take on tasks with loose requirements and see them through to successful completion.
  • You enjoy learning new technologies and are passionate about experimenting to figure out how to build things better.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with JavaScript and AWS.
  • Experience working with large datasets and building tools for data ingestion and processing.
