Senior Surveillance Manager (VP/AD level -Electronic Trading)

A leading, institutional electronic trading platform, operating in the fixed income market.

Job Description

  • Approximately 10 years or more experience of working within in compliance roles with a significant amount of that in a surveillance role a UK/EU market surveillance function for a bank, investment firm or trading venue (preferred), encompassing monitoring, market abuse risk assessments, alert calibrations, reporting and record-keeping of processes and decisions;
  • Fixed income experience in compliance or trading (first line trading experience in fixed income preferred, but not required)
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant market abuse regulations and regulator's expectations to manage market abuse risk and disorderly trading and attendant reporting obligations (i.e STORs and the FCA Principles for Business) ;
  • Experience of working with third party vendors supporting surveillance arrangements is preferred and managing the relationship with the surveillance system provider
  • Experience of using and enhancing surveillance software for trade surveillance and electronic communications monitoring and attendant case management;
  • Interfacing with regulators and management in relation to queries or providing advice about the market abuse control framework;

The Successful Applicant

  • University graduate or similar;
  • Thinking creatively and critically to solve problems and anticipate potential questions or issues;
  • Excellent judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information;
  • Strong presentation and verbal skills to produce reports, following up on action points or enquiries;
  • Strong data analytical skills including proficient use of MS Office software, in particular Excel and PowerPoint presentations;
  • Gravitas and experience to discuss the status of the business's market abuse arrangements to senior management and governance committees;
  • Should be able and willing to work proactively, transparently and collaboratively but without micromanagement, reliably and effectively;
