Job Description

Job Purpose:

To support Munich Re’s UK clients through the delivery of excellent Operation underwriting services on their Life and Disability products. This includes the assessment of large and/or complex underwriting referrals, audits and process reviews and consultancy on philosophy changes.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwrite large and/or complex life and disability cases referred from our clients

Monitor the quality and appropriateness of the client underwriting philosophy and procedures through audits

Contribute to the overall relationship management (including visits, audits/reviews, training) of a specified group of clients

Provide technical underwriting advice and explain decisions in a clear and manner

Work with other areas of Munich Re’s Life branch to help develop strong internal relationships

General Duties and Tasks:

Work with clients to establish and maintain efficient and appropriate operations of all relevant underwriting and administration arrangements

Contribute ideas and support to the positive development of the client relationship and the Underwriting area in general

Being involved in project work with clients on an ad hoc basis

Represent Munich Re by attending industry events

Develop a working knowledge of companies’ decision-making process for reinsurance, including an understanding of the role of various people

Key Skills and Experience

Extensive experience underwriting Life, Critical Illness and Income Protection benefits

Understand business protection products and financial underwriting requirements

Knowledge of the UK protection market

Experience in planning and conducting Underwriting audits

Confident individual with excellent communication and presentation skills

Knowledge of reinsurance markets and key product lines

Organisational skills in order to meet deadlines and manage client expectations

Producing high quality written material

Desirable Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

DMU (AMS), ACII or studies towards it
