Senior/Associate Structural Engineer
This is a hybrid role - 3 days in the London office a week
To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division. SOCOTEC's Engineering and Safety teams provide an award-winning, flexible and forward-thinking approach, as well as a high level of technical capability, providing our clients with cost-effective and practical solutions for the full range of Engineering problems. We're looking for a proactive, flexible, and reliable Associate Director - Structural Engineering to join our London office, with experience in a similar role and who possesses a recognised structural engineering qualification. Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):
- Provide a very high level of service to our customers:
- Undertake technical due diligence, compliance audits and 3rd party reviews
- Undertake structural investigations and assessments
- Develop structural strategies, design and associated mark-ups for various buildings and infrastructure projects
- Provide advisory support and carry out site visits during construction stage and building investigations
- Maintain and manage strong client relationships and identify business development opportunities
- Support and determine solutions to engineering problems
- Prepare technical notes and reports
- Have a clear understanding of structural engineering issues (including fire and façade), and provide well supported engineering solutions through the selection of appropriate methods and tools
- Manage projects from inception to completion and be responsible for the associate invoicing
- Be familiar with all relevant legislation and ensure that procedures are updated accordingly
- Identify new work opportunities with clients and other professionals, engage actively with potential clients and prepare/review fee proposal letters
- Work within a team environment and be able to instruct (Junior) Structural Engineers and support staff in their work as well as provide support to other discipline Directors and Associates when required
- Contribute to the development of the company so as to enhance its reputation by attending or organising conferences, panels, seminars and CPD sessions

Qualifications & Accreditation:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (structural, civil, or similar field)
- A postgraduate structural engineering qualification (certificate, diploma, or masters)
- Have achieved chartership with Institute of Structural Engineers (or applying)
Competencies:
At least eight years' experience in structural engineering
- At least two years' experience in management
- To be passionate about structural engineering
- Confident communicator, good customer service skills
- Self-motivated, able to prioritise and work on own initiative, as well as following instructions and working as part of a team
- Numerate, and organised with attention to detail
- Professional appearance and behavior
- Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
- Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy
