Job Description Your Mission: The Civil Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team within a Client's Approving Authority, primarily supporting operations and future programs at the client sites. The role involves working alongside Mechanical, Civil, Building Services, and Electrical Engineers to author, develop, assess, and maintain Engineering Design Substantiation for Clyde Nuclear Facilities. The goal is to ensure that Design Intent, Critical Safety Functions, and Safety and Operational Requirements are met in accordance with current best practices and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilies Key Responsibilities: Author & manage design substantiation documents Oversee design changes & concessions Present safety cases to committees Develop EIMT schedules & safety reviews Provide technical advice & conduct independent reviews Apply engineering knowledge in high-risk environments Justify civil/structural design modifications EXPERIENCE   Essential: ️ 5+ years of experience in design assessment for reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, including dynamic loads (earthquakes, blasts, wind, rain, snow). Experience with reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties. Proven ability to produce technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high-hazard industries. ️ Skilled in applying theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and manage engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments. Strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge, utilizing both existing and emerging technologies. Desirable: ️ Experience in Clyde or a similar nuclear environment is a plus. Familiarity with safety case development techniques, such as HAZID/HAZOP studies.   Qualifications Your Profile: Essential: 5+ years in design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, ideally including dynamic loads (earthquakes, blasts, wind, rain, snow). Experience with reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties. Proven ability to produce robust technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high-hazard industries. Expertise in applying theoretical and practical methods to engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments. Strong combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge to utilize emerging technologies. Desirable: Experience within Clyde or a similar nuclear environment is a plus. Familiarity with safety case development techniques (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP studies).
