Job Description

DP World Logistics offers tailored Logistics Concepts for the automotive, supplier and consumer goods industry. We support from planning to implementation of reliable process chains by understanding all the needs and requirements and make individual solutions possible.

We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Manager with excellent leadership skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position will be based at our large site in Swindon UK, please note some adhoc travel to other sites may be required.

Location: Swindon

Hours: Rotating shift pattern from Monday to Friday (10 pm to 6 am and 2 pm to 10 pm)

Contract: Permanent

How you will Contribute

  • Leading the team to achieve all Warehouse objectives and targets whilst managing continuous improvement of the Warehouse and operations
  • Undertake on call weekends on a rotational basis
  • Efficient resource planning
  • Manage Receipt, Picking and Despatch teams.
  • Chair Warehouse team meetings, organise daily/weekly workforce briefings to ensure direct reports and associates understand company expectations and targets.
  • Ensure all work instructions, H&S and Safe Systems of work are complied with, with support from site Quality/Inventory Manager and the site Health & Safety Manager to deliver a culture of safety and safe working practices.
  • All accidents/incidents to be fully investigated and concluded with robust actions
  • Monitor sickness absence and holiday absence including ensuring both are Logged by the team for all absence and prior to Return to Work Interview the Sickness Database has been updated correctly and absence reports have been printed off the system to confirm during the Interview.
  • Ensure data input has been completed by the Admin Clerk that the Electronic Time sheet is checked for accuracy against manual timesheets and signed off.
  • Ensure that all direct reports have annual appraisals and reviews and that training needs are identified and training plans implemented.
  • Financial and budgeting understanding of closed and open book accounts.
  • Implementation of Lean processes.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation including environmental energy savings.
  • Warehouse organisation to ensure FIFO and Kanban principles are adhered to.

What you will bring:

  • Vocational training and expertise including Health and Safety and MHE.
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a Warehouse Shift Manager within a fast moving Unionised environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas.
  • IT skills including MS Word and Excel
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to work at a strategic level.
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a Warehouse
  • Willing to work additional hours to meet the demands of the role
  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management. E.g. CILT, CPC and Transport experience or willingness to achieve accreditation
  • Experience within an automotive environment
