Our client is one of the largest international ship operators offering the full range of management services to customers around the globe, with a wide portfolio of vessels. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a 3-6 PQE marine litigator, ideally coming from a private practice firm or a P&I club, who is looking to advance their career, reporting to and working closely with the Head of Legal and senior stakeholders. This role will primarily be accountable for assisting the business with insurance claims and providing legal advice across their fleets whilst protecting the Owner’s interests.
Your key responsibilities:
- Day to day dealing with any large litigation cases that may affect the fleet such as: casualty claims, cargo claims, offhire & demurrage.
- Partnering with Charterers, Operators and various other sectors to problem solve, assist with drafting and commercially resolving issues as they arrive.
- Understanding and advising on the various insurances and renewals, where required.
- Dealing with Insurance claims promptly following a clear strategy.
- When required to attend Court, Arbitration Tribunals and/ or Mediation.
Your skills and experience:
- Previous experience as a senior claims handler/ associate/ counsel from either a law firm, P&I Club or owner.
- 3-8 years PQE.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as part of the team and across the business.
