Exciting and challenging opportunity to bring your FMCG shopper marketing skills, energy and commercial savvy to this hugely well-known food business, part of a multinational food company with multiple brands.

With experience in shopper, customer or perhaps brand marketing, or maybe in an agency role, this is a super opportunity to bring your creativity and commercial savvy to a challenging new role driving shopper strategy and activation across the grocery trade. Our client is a major FMCG business with a portfolio of much-loved food brands and ingredients with incredible heritage and ambitious plans. We’re looking for a talented, hands-on and ambitious person to join the team; someone who will play a key role in delivering the brand, category and customer strategic priorities, by building and executing bespoke customer activation plans for the shopper journey, in-store and on-line. This is a great opportunity to gain real autonomy and hands-on responsibility, working on a brand used in tens of millions of kitchens across the UK.

Key Responsibilities include:

Strategic

  • Supporting the development and implementation of holistic Shopper Marketing plans and Joint (Customer) Marketing Plans for key retailers.
  • Ownership and delivery of full through the line strategic & targeted solutions through a clearly defined Shopper Marketing Strategy
  • Building strong agency links and understanding the latest merchandising options that are available within each retailer.
  • Developing a deep understanding of shoppers and retailers, their behaviour and attitudes towards to the categories in which the company operates.

Customer & Shopper

  • Supporting the development and activation of customer strategies with bespoke activation plans, working alongside the commercial team.
  • Supporting the development of customer Joint Marketing & Business Plans to build customer relationships and engagement.
  • Partnering with Finance and Marketing to develop a ROI process, using this to prioritise and measure activity.
  • Supporting the brand team to ensure the most effective shopper activation plans are developed, supporting budget negotiations.
  • Developing high-quality and compelling selling stories for the trading teams for all branded initiatives.

Category Activations

  • Championing seasonal events in-store, including category understanding and shopper activation through the line, working closely with the Category Management team.
  • Championing the voice of the shopper internally to ensure all shopper activations meet business objectives.
  • Using Nielsen and retailer EPOS data to understand the ROI of shopper activations and promotions.

Marketing

  • Developing close working relationships with the Marketing team to ensure all shopper plans are aligned with brand objectives.
  • Gaining a robust understanding of optimal shopper marketing tools and techniques for each of the brands.
  • Working in partnership with the Digital Shopper Marketing Manager to ensure seamless customer execution on-line.

  • Robust shopper, customer or category marketing experience working on major FMCG brands, ideally with experience of retail and on-line shopper campaigns.
  • A solid understanding of the full shopper journey and key touchpoints.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Commercial savvy and a good grasp of the grocery retail environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build rapport quickly and influence internally and externally.
  • Strong team player with a can-do attitude and drive for achievement
  • Confident and capable of operating at all levels – a good team player and self-starter.
