Social Care Recruitment Advisor / IPS Mental Health Employment Specialist with experience of providing support to people with mental illness or experience of providing employment support services within a social care setting and NVQ Competencies in Management Level 3 (or equivalent) is required for a well-established mental health charity based in Harrow, North London.

SALARY: £24,349 - £26,552 per annum (including London Weighting) + Benefits

LOCATION: Agile role based in Harrow with a mixture of Service and Home working

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract until 31st January 2025

WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week may include evening and weekend work

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Social Care Recruitment Advisor / IPS Mental Health Employment Specialistwith experience of providing support to people with mental illness or experience of providing employment support services within a social care setting and NVQ Competencies in Management Level 3 (or equivalent).

This new employment service aims to support people living with mental health problems to find and retain employment.The service will be delivered initially in London, Kent and Wrexham with plans for expansion to other areas of the UK, funding permitting.

As the Social Care Recruitment Advisor / IPS Mental Health Employment Specialist you will be responsible for delivering the service in London, providing Individual Placement & Support services.

The Social Care Recruitment Advisor / IPS Mental Health Employment Specialist will help make a difference by leading the way to a better quality of life for everyone affected by mental illness, helping people with mental health barriers to achieve their paid employment related goals.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Social Care Recruitment Advisor / IPS Mental Health Employment Specialistwill include:
Support and help people in finding and retaining paid work; achieving vocational goals
Liaise with employers and securing placements for service users and supporting them in this placement
Build and maintain relationships with employers, training providers and other services
Prepare individuals for employment assessing each persons individual employment needs through vocational profiling, and then actively support them to achieve their employment goals
Provide effective in-work support to individuals once they secure paid employment to ensure they retain it
Promote the benefits of supporting service users to access employment with external employers
Proactively engage and work with external employers to open-up and secure paid employment opportunities for people who have experienced mental health problems
Provide advice and support to employers, which may include negotiating adjustments and on-going contact with supervisors to ensure job retention
Assess and identify individual support needs related to work which might typically include help with benefits, travel to work, managing health at work etc. and work with the individual to tackle these
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

You will have the essentials:
Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing employment support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity
Understanding of the employment needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health and of supporting individuals to obtain and sustain employment
An understanding of the principles and practices of supported employment and the IPS model
The ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individuals situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs
Experience of delivering vocational training and presenting to groups
NVQ Competencies in Management Level 3 (or equivalent) is required
