Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join my client's highly regarded property team as a Social Housing Governance Solicitor on a hybrid basis from one of their 6 office locations in the Midlands and North West.

My client is a highly reputable, award-winning, multi-service law firm offering legal services to individuals and businesses throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To provide specialist legal advice to clients in respect of Social Housing Governance and Charity law.
  2. To undertake case work, and to manage all client work in accordance with the client's policies and quality standards.
  3. To advise on the RSH standards and compliance.
  4. To provide support to clients in respect of the requirements of registered charities and compliance with the requirements for the disposal of land and the Charities Act 2011.
  5. To deal with charitable duties for both exempt and registered charities; provisions of the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and registration with the Financial Conduct Authority and the Companies Act 2011 and registration with Companies House.
  6. To advise on applications to the Charity Commission.
  7. To support social housing providers on mergers between registered providers.

Requirements:

  1. Social Housing experience and a strong understanding of governance, charity and social housing law.
  2. An ability to adapt to new areas of law, recognising that the law and sector can change frequently.
  3. The ability to translate technical legal issues into clear and practical advice to clients.
  4. Experience in managing and developing people.
  5. Experience acting for registered providers of Social Housing.
  6. Sound judgement with the ability to provide solution-based legal advice.
  7. The ability to run a profitable case load.

This role is available on a hybrid working pattern from one of their 6 office locations in the Midlands and North West.
