Job Description

Social Worker Location: Ipswich and Colchester 39 hours per week and up to 3 sleeps £15 per hour + £35 per sleep Job Description: We are currently recruiting for a Social Worker to join our children's home and supported accommodation projects based in Ipswich and Colchester. This role will include lone and group working with young people aged 13 – 18. The Social Worker will be  working alongside the manager of the project, supervising the team of support workers whilst also acting as the key worker for the young people in your care. Each member of the team is encouraged to be creative within their role and group reflective exercises within the management team allow for continued personal development. FEVACA can offer a fantastic and intensive learning programme which will develop individual skills in sessions including Safeguarding, Attachment Theory, Reflective Practice, Motivational Interviewing and much more. Our qualified, multidisciplinary team of Social Workers, Teachers and Health Practitioners ensures every member of the team is supported with regular supervision and team meetings. In addition, we provide a comprehensive pension and financial advice service and the opportunity to develop and progress. Duties include: Contribute to and implement the internal training package. Ensure all new staffs are supported fully and complete their induction packs  Offer formal supervision monthly to the staff in your line management Protect clients from threats to their health, welfare and normal development, both from inside and outside the home. Ensure that young people are responsible for their own lives, involving them in planning their lives supporting them and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility. Write monthly reports and needs assessments as well as any other appropriate document (such as risk assessments) as required.  Ensure compliance with the Children Act 1989 and associated regulations, such as Children’s Homes, National Minimum Standards, and the Supported People’s Quality Assessment Framework, the Leaving Care Act 2000 Create, develop and ensure positive and constructive communication occurs between FEVACA and other professionals in the field: Social Work Teams, Police, Housing, Voluntary Sector, Connexions etc. Essential: Right to work in the UK Hold a Social Work qualification and be registered or willing to register with Social Work England Knowledge of the Children Act, Leaving Care Act and subsequent guidance. Experience of working with children and young people  Ability to supervise and lead other practitioners within the project. Good standard of written and verbal English, including report writing and assessment skills. Desirable:  Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and guidance Knowledge of Housing legislation and the process of moving young people on Knowledge of Criminal Justice and young peoples experience of this process Knowledge of mental health issues and services which can respond to this need Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and service which may support clients in this area.
