Nordson Test & Inspection, a leading provider of advanced inspection and testing solutions, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Architect to join our team in Colchester, United Kingdom. Summary of the role

You will work for the Software Manager and your role as Software Architect is crucial in the development and roll out of the Software strategy for the X-ray and Test Division. Building on the deep experience of our teams across our sites in the UK and Germany, you will be defining and developing the architecture of our next generation systems.

The role of Software Architect is an opportunity for an experienced software leader or those looking for the opportunity to develop new skills in leading highly visible software projects. It is not expected that you show evidence of the exact experience. You will be supported to develop professionally through exposure to customers, suppliers and research partners and in working alongside colleagues with a diverse range of skills.

Role and Responsibilities

Reviewing the deployed software products and, working together with the product line teams, looking for strengths and weaknesses in their architectures, and opportunities to unify.

Reviewing current state of the art industrial software best practice, languages, frameworks and environments.

Defining, documenting and championing a common architecture for future product line applications. Working with the senior management team to ensure the approach meets the requirements of the business.

Working with experienced applications developers to implement the architecture and supporting development teams with documentation and consultation to ensure a standard approach is maintained.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum of a University degree (Computer Science, or relevant software engineering discipline).

Minimum of 10 years of professional working experience in High Technology systems development.

Industrial experience in any of the following areas: Semiconductor, Electronics, Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, High Tech, Industrial Equipment, Life Sciences.

Strong C#, C++, or related programming ability.

Developing applications for the current Microsoft Windows operating system.

Knowledge of software development strategies and testing techniques.

Good working knowledge of Agile tools & methodologies ideally with DevOps.

Proven communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

Experience with image processing and analysis.

Application of Machine learning techniques.

Experience leading teams software engineers to deliver complex industrial electro mechanical systems.

Travel

Regular travel to Nordson sites both in the UK and overseas. Approx. 20%
