As a Technical Architect at DVLA, you will be an integral part of the Architect team, providing expertise and designs, during a time of transformation. £39,428 to £52,991 (including allowances assessed at interview) plus excellent Civil Service benefits and 26% Pension. You'll work with the latest technologies, including a modern cloud platform that provides support for both container-based and serverless workloads through the use of Kubernetes, native cloud services such as AWS Lambda, modern build pipelines and supporting tooling.
People (colleagues and users) are at the heart of everything DVLA does and, as a Technical Architect, you'll be responsible for providing guidance, oversight, and designs to IT workstreams, providing architectural input, technical designs and solutions, and acting as a source of advice and guidance across DVLA's product areas.
Responsibilities of the Technical Architect include:
You will be an experienced Technical Software Architect or Senior Developer who can:

Create and review solution designs
Work actively with the squads to help shape solutions
Architecturally empowered in terms of owning product designs
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with technical and business areas
Present Solution Proposals to senior stakeholders
Work towards being a key owner and contributor to the Architecture Roadmap, and be responsible as a member of Architecture team for ensuring governance is followed
Update the reference architecture with patterns, building blocks, proof of concepts and standards
Essential Skills and Experience as a Software Architect:
You'll have demonstrable skills and experience of:
Knowledge of designing / building cloud native software on a platform such as AWS
Desire to create and maintain solution designs in an iterative and collaborative manner
Ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges.
Excellent technical skills with the experience to be held accountable for technical aspects of delivering complex solutions, including end-to-end solution design.
Great interpersonal skills allowing you to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
You will be able to drive discussions with senior leaders across the agency as well as having the technical background that will enable you to easily interact and give guidance to software developers, testers and engineers.
