AWE has opportunities for experienced Software Engineers to join our team working in our Orion Laser Facility. These roles offer excellent career progression opportunities!
Package: £27,960 - £50,000 per annum
Location: Reading

The Role?
As a Software Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
- Creating Software control for laser diagnostic instruments and devices
- Writing software that controls sub-systems via HMI's
- Supporting the Orion laser team with any software issues
- Writing technical documentation to meet customer requirements, as required
- Ensuring high quality of the work you deliver
- Accountable for the safety of all aspects of work you carry out
Whilst not considered a checklist, candidates would benefit from having the following:
- An ONC/HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- At least one Software programming system / language, preferably using one of these packages :
- Labview,
- C(any variation),
- VBA,
- Python,
- Java,
- Any SCADA packages - Experience of project life cycles and configuration control
- Professional membership or registration preferred, or a willingness to work towards professional registration
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually
- Willingness to learn other software languages including Labview
