Mechanical / Software Engineer
The Role
Mechanical / Software Engineer for developing engineering software products, including the research, implementation and testing of new analysis methods and code architecture. You will be an integral member of a team dedicated to developing first class engineering software products in a leading global provider of engineering solutions. Its a great opportunity to learn and contribute over a wide range of technologies and applications, in an excellent environment with superb prospects. You will also have the opportunity to write and publish journal and conference papers in your speciality field.
The Person
Key Responsibilities:
Develop first class engineering software products
Research, implementation and testing of new analysis methods and code architecture
Take ownership and responsibility for large scale software development projects
Write or support the writing of documentation for software capabilities
Maintenance of current and developed software code to keep an excellent reputation for quality and robust software
Support the companys Customer Support related to developed software capabilities
Support the companys pre and post sales activities related to developed software capabilities in the form of meetings, presentations, and training
Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
Keep up to date and compliant with all relevant legislation and company policies and procedures, with particular attention to the requirements of Information Security and Quality practices
Essential Skills and Experience:
A first or upper second-class degree at undergraduate level in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or similar discipline
Experience of software engineering
Strong research skills with the ability to research a technical topic to a deep level
Good communication and personal skills
Problem solving skills
Attention to detail
Advanced technical skills
The ability to work in a team and individually
Desirable Skills and Experience:
PhD in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or similar discipline
Knowledge of mechanical and electric powertrains and their components
Elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) analysis and modelling experience, including lubricant film and contact simulation
Knowledge in any domain relevant to the company, e.g., gears, bearings, shafts, electric machines
Multi Body Dynamics Simulation
Numerical analysis
Optimisation
Commercial C# experience
.Net experience
Experience of agile development
