An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join our Housing team based at our Leeds office.

In this role, the Solicitor will effectively work with the Partner in dealing with, developing and expanding property litigation generated within or referred to the firm's Housing department across all 3 offices. They will provide support to the Partner with existing caseloads and to take responsibility for new work, under Partner supervision.

Responsibilities

To support wider department team members and their clients in all manner of property based litigation, which may typically include:

  • Litigation arising from the acquisition of development sites;
  • Dilapidations claims under commercial leases;
  • Enforcement of freehold and leasehold covenants, including rights of way;
  • Termination of commercial leases (including business tenancies) and licences;
  • Forfeiture and possession proceedings; and

It is also expected that you will;

  • Contribute to the department's wider business development objectives and initiatives to strengthen and expand client relationships.
  • Work with the Partner to develop and grow internal referral network.
  • Supervise and assist junior members of the litigation team where appropriate and as required in relation to other litigation queries.

Skills and Attributes

  • 2 - 5 years post-qualified experience desirable, with experience in property litigation is essential;
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost and benefit;
  • Adept at working to challenging timescales with the ability to plan and organise effectively;
  • Excellent all round management and communication skills;
  • Skilled in establishing rapport and relationships;
  • Sound judgement;
  • Pro-active, enthusiastic and committed;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Efficient and methodical;
  • Flexible, ability to adapt style and use different approaches;
  • Good prioritisation skills and able to work with urgency to move matters forward;
  • Ability to work within and as part of multi-discipline teams.
