Main duties of the job

· Attending daily ward rounds in a variety of different specialities including vascular, colorectal, upper GI, urology, bariatrics, step down and ICU.

· Be a part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team working alongside the pain team, dietitians, stoma nurses, nutrition team, in addition to the core Surgical team.

· Promote the safe and effective use of medicines in a ward environment, whilst also ensuring the cost-effective use of resources.

· We support personal and professional development outside of the clinical commitments through active involvement in the development and review of policies and procedures relating to various areas of Specialist Surgery.

· You will support the Advanced Pharmacists within the Surgical team to manage the introduction of new drugs and treatment guidelines into the division.

· You will work with the Advanced Surgical Pharmacists to prepare financial reports and ensure that drug usage and expenditure is monitored and regularly reported to Divisional management team.

· Delivering educational sessions to junior pharmacists, Doctors and Nurses as well as providing one to one support to trainee Pharmacists.

· Opportunities for participation in quality improvement projects within the Surgical Division.

· You will also be given the opportunity to undertake a fully funded independent prescribing qualification with protected learning time for study days and practice hours.
