job details Randstad Student Support are recruiting for Specialist Mentors to work with autistic students studying at Universities and / or Colleges in Bristol. ...The role is set to begin at the start of the 2024 academic year (September 1st 2024) ready to start supporting new and returning students. All successful candidates must be able to travel to the local University or college and offer both in person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.As a Specialist Mentor, you would be a trusted advisor for students. You will be required to assist students throughout the full academic year. All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) meaning all candidates providing this role must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.Candidates must be qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum) and have taken extensive training in adult autism.The extensive training may include:6 National Autistic Society Modules (non medical helper package)ORThe Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.You can find a list of all accepted training routes here (pages 10 - 12)Desirable skills include:Experience of working with autistic clientsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationshipPunctuality and reliabilityGood organisational skillsAbility to manage a caseload of studentsIf you would like more information around the position then please don't hesitate to contact Connor on 0161 247 8800 If you are shortlisted for the role, we will contact you for a short informal chat about the role followed by a formal interview.
