Job summary Are you passionate about supporting the recovery of patients through Occupational Performance following a stroke? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 5 or established band 6 Occupational Therapist to join SWBH Stroke and Neurology Team.In preparation for our move later this year to our brand new Hospital 'Midland Met', we have secured funding to right-size our acute Stroke therapy team to meet the new RCP guidelines for Stroke, and are looking s to extend our already thriving therapy family.Individual support and development is essential in creating a rewarding work place environment. As a service, we aspire to become more involved in new research opportunities, and as such we are also keen to support individuals with an interest research.This is an opportunity to strengthen and diversify the team, as such we are keen to interview individuals with an interest in specific areas of OT such as cognitive rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation and research.As a band 6, you will have the opportunity to rotate across the Stroke and Neurology service, working on the acute and rehabilitation wards and with the community stroke service. Main duties of the job As part of this role you will be be required to utilise your core OT skills to complete assessments and deliver treatment plans to inform and develop individual rehabilitation goals for our cohort of patients.You will use your knowledge and experience of rehabilitation to both deliver care for our patients and support the learning and development of more junior staff.Alongside this, effective leadership skills will be required to direct others as needed and deputise for the band 7 OT lead in their absence.In return, we can offer you access to structured clinical supervision with our most experienced team members to ensure both your clinical development needs and leadership aspirations are a focus. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Professional Registration with HCPC Portfolio evidence of CPD Desirable Membership Royal College of Occupational Therapy Membership of RCOT Specialist section - Neurological Practice Experience Essential Sufficient postgraduate experience to demonstrate ability to meet the personal specification and fulfil the job description. Able to write complex reports in English Experience of working as part of a Therapy team and the wider MDT Experience of delegating to and supervising junior Occupational therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. Specific experience within the field of Stroke/Neurology Contribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff or undergraduate Therapy students Desirable Experience of community services Understanding of the cognitive hierarchy and it's impact on Rehabilitation
