Main duties of the job

As part of our recruitment plan for the Community Nursing service, we are implementing a band 5. This is an exciting opportunity for any band 5 nurse looking for a place to start or an opportunity to try something different. This unique opportunity within the Community Division will allow you to enhance and develop your skills across a range of different areas.

These posts come with a permanent contract, and you will benefit from exposure to a wide range of clinical placements including:

  • Canterbury Ward
  • Capetown Ward

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these.

Carry out all relevant forms of care to designated patients and supervise learner nurses and Health Care Support Workers.

Care and control of medication and controlled drugs used for patient care, being aware of the systems used for safe administration, the ordering, and maintenance of stock.

Ensure work with the Trust/unit and ward policies in order to maintain professional, clinical, and patient safety.

Acquire the knowledge and expertise to take appropriate action in emergency situations and attend mandatory/compulsory update sessions.

Education

  • Registered Nurse
  • Relevant professional development / academic qualification for practice area
  • Working towards a degree
  • Mentorship/Teaching/assessing course

Experience

  • Experience as a Staff Nurse
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a range of people and understand the importance of the highest standards of customer care
