Staff Nurse Pre – Assessment

London: The Wellington Hospital

Hours:Full Time 37.5hrs per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday (0830-1830 Mon-Fri) (flexibility required)

Permanent contract

Asa Staff Nurse in thePre-Assessment department,you will providethe highest standards of care, safety and service to patients, relativesand other customers such Consultants, using a philosophy of care endorsed within the hospital which will be underpinned by policy, procedures, protocols, business strategies and imperatives.

You will be responsible forassistingin running of the clinic with the supervision of senior staffs and alsoattending topatients in clinic-

  • Conduct face-to-face pre-operative assessments for patients scheduled for surgery.

  • Review patient medical histories and perform physical examinations.

  • Educate patients about the pre-operative and post-operative processes.

  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Document patient information accurately in Meditech

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to departmental goals.

You will also be arranging Pre-assessment appointments for the patients and will be liaising closely with the consultants and their secretaries. You will be trusted to make independent decisions in best interest of the patient and the team

What you’ll bring:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC registration and PREP requirements

  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in pre-operative assessment or surgical care.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and electronic healthcare record systems.

  • Pre-operative assessment training

  • Phlebotomy experience is a must.
