Circa £45,500 – depending on skills and experience + company vanPermanent, Full time, 37 hours a week + 1 in 4 standby rotaRegional role - ideally located nearby to Cambridgeshire / Suffolk / EssexMake Every Drop of Your Potential CountWhat will you be doing?The BioresourcesTechnical Engineer -Steam will be a member of the Bioresources Technical Maintenance team reporting to the Bioresources Technical Maintenance Manager. The role encompasses the requirement to improve the performance and efficiency of operational Steam assets and activities across all main Sludge Treatment Centre sites. You will also provide technical support to the wider team and will undertake projects and planned maintenance activities across the main STC’s. Duties will include: Providing both technical and specialist support to the Bioresources Technicians and to the wider team Helping enhance the performance of the CHP and Steam Raising Plant assets Ensuring all relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to Assisting with the reduction of operating costs Finding the ‘best’ solution to existing challenges Investigating, identifying and implementing improvements to help deliver quality, legal, statutory and business targets Investigating and proposing capital solutions to maintain security and reliability of processes, helping improve their efficiency Providing technical expertise to support the O&M of CHP and SRP Identifying and supporting the enhancement and performance improvement of the CHP/SRP assets as well as resources for the water recycling business Utilising a wide range of source knowledge and information to find the best solutions to existing and future challenges e.g., Literature, other companies, experts, information technology, other departments. What does it take to be a Bioresources Technical Engineer - Steam?NVQ Level 2/3 or approved apprenticeship in either anelectrical ormechanical discipline.Steam Raising/Boiler Plant experience is desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.BOAS qualification would desirable Knowledge of Boiler Water Treatment would be advantageousExperience of planned preventative maintenanceOperational and maintenance experience in CHP, SRP, Gas or a similar engineering backgroundTechnical competence and experience with problem solving Commercial and light to heavy industry electrical installation and fault finding beneficialPLC, SCADA and control system knowledge, system interrogation and fault finding would be beneficialExperience and a strong awareness of Health and Safety as well as Environmental legislation Decisive and resourceful thinker Someone who is happy working autonomously, often required to use their own initiative Strong communication skills Competent user of IT such as Microsoft365Flexible approach to work- this role can be very hands on at times also there is out of hours standby requirementFull driving license is essential for this role Benefits aligned to this roleOur people are important to us, and we want to make sure that we reward and recognise all the great work that they do.
