This is an exciting time to join Thames Water as we embark on our collaborative "turn-around" plan. This plan will ensure an ambitious, resilient, and sustainable wastewater service for future generations.
InStrategy and External Affairs, we are responsible for shaping and embedding a strategy which delivers for our customers, communities and the environment. We manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators and policymakers, building trust to allow Thames Water to achieve its ambitions.
It is a very exciting time in Strategy and External Affairs as we are building towards our submission for the next price review later in 2023 alongside working to embed our vision for 2050 and delivering our annual performance report in July in a new way.

We are at the heart of a lot of changes within Thames Water and there is the possibility for plenty of exposure to a variety of areas in Thames Water.
What you will be doing?
This is a vital role playing a key part in the strategy team to develop, communicate and embed Thames Water's strategy both internally and externally. We are developing a strategy as part of our exciting turnaround plan and you will have the opportunity to play a key role in helping to shape and embed it.
Are you an experienced Strategy Lead with a passion for strategic analysis who can embark on proactively supporting Thames Water's long-term strategy into reality?
Your role will be multi-faceted encompassing a wide range of functions including -
• Conducting strategic analysis and research that supports and steers the development of Thames Water's strategy and supports the subsequent implementation
• Identify and evaluate strategic opportunities for the business.
• Support the creation of detailed implementation plans to drive and track the delivery of all aspects of the strategy
• Monitor external trends, both within the water industry and in wider society, understanding how those trends could/should impact the strategy.
• Support the governance, risk and assurance processes to enable effective decision-making and prioritisation in support of the strategy
• Collaborate with the strategy team to embed enhanced ways of working .
What you will bring to the role?
- Experience and passion for strategic analysis
- Ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams and disciplines - making sound judgements and influencing across the business will come naturally to you and you will enjoy working collaboratively across the business.
- Experience in formulating and assessing business cases as well, as performance assessment and analysis
- A creative thinker, with the ability to see multiple options, pro-actively look for best practices, to think laterally and outside the immediate context;
- Ability to pull together analysis into meaningful and insightful conclusions and recommendations
- First-class problem-solving skills
- A strong leader with excellent presentational skills.
