Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Subcontracts Engin eer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry , located primarilty at our offices in Aberdeen.
Initially the position is for up to a 12 month duration but with the potential to develop into a more permanent role.
Our Client is looking to fast track the development of an offshore field in an international location using a new build FPSO.
We are looking for a high calibre, experienced and suitably qualified Subcontracts Engineer who has a proven delivery track record of contract drafting, negotiation and performance management to be part of Project Supply Chain team.
Although based in Aberdeen the role may require travel to other locations. The role shall require skills that support identifcation and pre-qualification of suitable vendors, developing and issuing invitations to tender, negotiating and awarding contracts, post-award contract management, performance management and close out to final account across a wide range of services to support all aspects of Project needs.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities includes;

  • Drafting, review and negotiation of terms and conditions of contracts with subcontractors required to work in an offshore environment.
  • Ability to negotiate complex contracts and strategic deals under the supervision of the Project Supply Chain Manager.
  • Provide assistance with the terms and conditions of/negotiation of subcontracts (including more complex flow down terms).
  • Ability to draft and edit documents for compliance with Wood Subcontractact procedure and to follow the relevant internal contracting policies and processes.
  • Interface with theWood Commercial, Tax, Insurance and Legal Departments and any other functions as appropriate.
  • Interface with Client Supply Chain Focal Point
  • Act as Supply Chain Focal point for key subcobntracts
  • Accountable for delivery of contract tasks, setting appropriate KPIs ensuring they are completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Provide leadership in performance management and utilising scorecard to measure subcontractor delivery
  • Manage variations, and interrogate outturn cost against budget ensuring escalations are justified

Skills / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Law, or similar qualification that provides the technical skills to peform the role

Job-Specific Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in a similar position in the oil and gas industry which would allow understanding of and exposure to key contracting principles
  • Experience in using model form contracts that are standard in oil and gas, and standard contract model forms (LOGIC) preferably in both onshore and offshore environment
  • Experience of contract review, development and negotiation in a service company environment
  • Experience in the performance manangement of awarded contracts
  • Key contract terms, contract principles and the ability to develop contract structures, principles, KPIs and policies
  • Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
