Blackfield Associates is currently partnered with an exciting Medical Device startup, in the Oxford area. We are currently looking for a Supplier Development Engineer, to join their team on a permanent basis. This is to support their continual growth plans.

The role will be responsible for developing supplier relationships, ensure contractual compliance and executing continuous improvement initiatives. You will possess a diverse skill set including technical competence in engineering principles, manufacturing processes and problem-solving abilities, to address issues in supplier performance and product quality.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers based on trust, transparency, and collaboration
  • Developing and maintaining Supply Agreements with suppliers, and supporting the Quality Function in the development and maintenance of Quality Agreements
  • Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track supplier performance. Regularly evaluate supplier performance against these metrics and provide feedback to suppliers as needed.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancements.
  • Providing support and guidance to suppliers to help them improve their capabilities and processes.

Candidates will need a demonstrable track record in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, ideally Medical Device but this could extend to Pharmaceutical/Food Manufacturing/Aerospace/Automotive/Cosmetics/Defence etc. You will need a track record within engineering and working with external manufacturers/suppliers. Candidates will need a recongised engineering qualification.


The role does offer hybrid work, but you must be within a commutable distance from Oxford.
