WHAT TO EXPECT DAY TO DAY

The successfully appointed candidate will have the opportunity to build a deep knowledge of business imperatives and operational issues, as well as the opportunity to fully participate in the business. The Quality function is a site-based team at Lisburn who work closely with all areas of the business including Engineering, Operations and Suppliers to provide quality products to our world-wide customer base.

The supplier quality engineer is responsible for ensuring that the components, materials, and products provided by suppliers meet the required quality standards. The supplier quality engineer will collaborate closely with suppliers to establish and develop quality requirements, evaluate manufacturing processes via PPAP introduction, and monitor the quality of incoming materials and finished products. The supplier quality engineer will be the main point of contact for supplier engagement on all quality issues forming part of the wider Quality department within the Lisburn site.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Supplier Evaluation and Supporting Supplier Selection:

- Conduct assessments and audits of potential suppliers to evaluate their quality management systems, manufacturing capabilities, and adherence to industry standards.

- Collaborate with the procurement team to select suppliers based on quality performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

2. Quality System Development:

- Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures, policies, and guidelines for supplier evaluation, qualification, and monitoring.

- Define quality requirements and specifications for materials, components, and finished products in collaboration with internal stakeholders validated through supplier PPAP introduction.

3. Supplier Development and Performance Monitoring:

- Work closely with suppliers to identify areas for improvement in their manufacturing processes and quality systems.

- Provide guidance and support to suppliers to facilitate their compliance with quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Monitor supplier performance through regular audits, inspections, and metrics analysis to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

- Implement corrective actions and drive root cause analysis for non-conformances or quality issues identified with suppliers via SCAR process.

4. Quality Control and Inspection:

- Develop and implement incoming material inspection plans and procedures to ensure the quality of purchased components and materials.

- Collaborate with suppliers to establish in-process inspection requirements and ensure adherence to quality standards during manufacturing.

- Conduct periodic quality audits of suppliers to verify compliance with specifications, regulations, and quality management system requirements.

- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the supply chain to enhance quality, reduce defects, and increase efficiency.

- Analyse quality data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate documentation of supplier quality activities, including inspection reports, audits, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans.

- Prepare and present regular reports on supplier quality performance and improvement initiatives to Camlin management and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

- Engineering degree or a related field supplemented with experience in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and quality engineering principles.

- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.

- Proficiency in quality tools and techniques such as root cause analysis, statistical process control, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA/ PPAP).

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality products.

- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.

DESIRED CRITERIA:

The following skills will be valuable but are not essential:

  • Electromechanical experience
  • PCBA experience
  • Auditing certifications
