Primary Purpose:

To ensure that strategic material and planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity.

Responsible for outsourcing machining and engineering processes to optimise internal capacity and constraints.

Responsible for the ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and to cost by controlling and planning all material movements to ensure the business plans are met in the most efficient way.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Development - Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice Materials and Planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.

Financial Budget and Control - Input and hold responsibility for Materials and Planning budgets.

Work closely with the Planning Team in the provision, logistics and communicating all the production plans in a timely manner.

Systems - Support the development and improvement of Preactor and utilise the production plan status software to collaborate with Production Manager and Team Leaders to track the productivity and performance of each workshop to the plan.

Capacity analysis and planning including shift and labour planning driven by forecast.

Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the S&OP process.

Relationship Management - Liaise and build relationships with internal departments, customers and suppliers on all issues relating to supply and demand and participate in Continuous improvement and new product introduction projects Working with the Contracts Co-ordinator to expedite and prioritise manufacturing operations in conjunction with Production Team to customer delivery.

People Management - Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.

Person Specification

Skills:

  • Well-developed practical knowledge of planning methods and a deep understanding of MRP, Master Scheduling, Capacity Planning in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent Information Technology capabilities to include MS Word, Excel.
  • Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
  • Highly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Results orientated and organised with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.
  • Proven analytical, planning and problem solving skills.
