Our Client, Urenco; trusted, long-term supplier to the nuclear industry, specialising in safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services, are looking for a Support Analyst x2 on a contract basis (inside IR35), to be based in Capenhurst near Chester. In this contract position, you'll be the Support Analyst undertaking a variety of routine duties in the laboratories and in support of lab operations that aid the smooth and efficient operation of UUK's analytical chemistry function.
What will your day look like?
• Carry out a range of routine laboratory work covering sample preparation, processing and analysis to time in support of the Capenhurst site and the wider URENCO Group. All work to adhere to set quality and safety standards.
• Monitor data generated and alert an Analyst / Senior Analyst should anything unusual or unexpected occur.
• Collect data from liquid and gaseous effluent monitoring systems and take samples in line with the specified schedule.
• Condition and discharge liquid effluents when collection tanks are full, following set procedures to ensure that discharges do not breach regulatory limits.
• Control local storage and onward disposal of wastes, including segregating, bulking, radiological monitoring and transferring of waste.
• Carry out all laboratory and waste management activities in accordance with established procedures to ensure validity of results and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Conduct all activities in accordance with good safety practice and raise any concerns with management, thus ensuring that operations are carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety requirements.
What do you need to be great at this role?
• Understanding of working practices within a working laboratory
• Experience of working to set procedures
• Ability to carry out routine analysis duties in the laboratory
• Ability to monitor and replace, as required, materials and equipment to support routine operations
• Ability and self-motivation to work effectively with little supervision and to ensure that tasks are completed
