We are seeking a proven Systems Test & Integration Engineer with a Space Systems background, to bolster a very busy team across two of our newest Space related programmes called ALIGN and BEROE.


About the role:


As an integral member of the Lockheed Martin UK Space engineering team, you will be working with system / sub-system engineers and project managers across a number of active programmes where you will provide spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) expertise as well as overall Systems Engineering excellence.


At Lockheed Martin UK Space, our engineers are involved on a mission through all mission phases. Starting with writing bids to customers, then developing and analysing the design during the early mission phases.


You will be supporting testing during AIT, during the launch campaign and finally assist with in-orbit commissioning of the satellite.


What will I be doing?


  • industry standard and best practice SE/AIT principles to define test strategies, plans and procedures for functional testing at sub-system, platform and satellite level, including environmental testing;
  • and execution of Validation and Verification activities at subsystem and system level;
  • and management of requirements throughout programme delivery;
  • the definition of spacecraft test harnesses and Electrical & Mechanical Ground Support Equipment EGSE/MGSE;
  • & management of system technical budgets and margins;
  • results post-processing and support in test results analysis and report;
  • in programme technical review meetings.


The role involves hybrid working and requires good communication skills to interface with the Space team and our partners.


A level of travel will be required to meet business needs around the North East of UK, Oxfordshire, London and other customer sites.


  • Degreein Space Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical field;
  • Proven hands-on experience in satellite system level testing and working in cleanrooms / lab environments – Space Systems/Satellite/Payload build, test, integration skills are essential to successful application. You must have Space domain experience.
  • Familiarity with space systems engineering and testing standards, such as ECSS, NASA and MIL-STD;
  • Systems level understanding of small satellite / CubeSat programmes;
  • Familiar with Environmental Verification Testing requirements and process;
  • of Systems Integration and Test Planning, including: Integration and Test Plan/Procedure Writing
  • Systems Requirements management (inc. verification and requirements sell-off)
  • Familiar with testing different subsystem and payload technologies, such as RF, Optical & Laser.
  • Familiar with ground systems required for spacecraft missions.


Qualifications and Experience:


Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
