What you'll be doing
This is a part-time role in the wastewater Systems Planning Team, working 3 days a week. The system planning team are focused on building medium- and long-term system plans for our wastewater network and treatment assets. We ensure that our systems can perform as they need to now, and in the future, taking into consideration population growth, climate change and asset health. We also strive to reduce the environmental impact that our systems have, by addressing flooding and pollution and minimising discharges into the environment.
Working in a collaborative team, you will be responsible for:

  • Updating and maintaining regional-based System Plans to meet customer, stakeholder, regulator and strategic requirements.
  • Preparing and delivering System Reviews to operational and other internal stakeholders who manage the sewer network, pumping stations and treatment works.
  • Identifying system design capability in terms of capital and operational expenditure as well as system risk and performance.
  • Contributing to the development of Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMP's).
  • Providing technical information in a way that our customers and stakeholders understand.
What you should bring to the role
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to clearly interact with our customers and stakeholders
  • Deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role whilst working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
  • Be knowledgeable in asset management techniques and understand the regulatory framework Thames Water operates in
  • Have a good understanding of wastewater treatment and sludge assets as this role will have a focus on Mogden STW
  • Have a tertiary qualification in either asset management, engineering, science, or environmental management
