Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the products and solutions developed by Exsel Electronics to meet the customers and stakeholders requirements. Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach used across the Company to realise complex systems. Starting with unambiguous identification of the customer needs and developing them into formal requirements, it proceeds to capturing system design, developing test criteria and methods and culminates with a validated deployed complete solution.

The successful candidate will join the Systems Engineering team, supporting the companys projects and design and development processes. They will work closely with peers applying Exsel Groups capabilities to the government, defence, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities

Develop system specifications, acceptance plans, acceptance test plans, qualification plans and similar documents.

Develop system models within Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) software tools.

Assist in the introduction of new best practices and processes into the company.

Undertake and coordinate system development tasks to include design, integration, formal testing, and transitions into production.

Undertake meticulous functional, non-functional and interface verification and validation of systems.

Prepare verification and validation requirements compliance matrices and reports.

Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation.

Manage and document system configurations.

Support user trials and installations.

Assist in the development of technical proposals supporting business development.

Provide technical direction and assistance for Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams. Key Competencies

Have an excellent command of the English language; particularly as applied to technical syntax.

Have excellent verbal communication and inter-personal abilities.

Can industriously contribute as a team member, and on occasion provide team direction and leadership.

Can work independently to achieve results-oriented time-constrained targets.

Can architect systems, analyse them, identify problems and articulate resolution strategies.

Can prepare and present technical information, written and orally.

Computer literate, especially using Microsoft Office application suites, Excel, Word, Outlook.

Experienced in the use of MBSE methods, familiarity with Sparx Enterprise Architect being preferable.

Experience in modelling architectural solutions for electronic information technology and transfer including the application of security methods will be advantageous Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, ideally either Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering. General

Be diligent and reliable, demonstrate sound judgement and decision making ability.

The job holder will have a current driving license.

Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion.

Periodic travel to customer and other Exsel Group sites across the UK.

Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and meet UK government security vetting criteria.

Participate in the performance review process, identifying development areas and strengths and undertaking continuous professional development.
