Position Purpose:

Tax Compliance Officer

Travel to Weybridge – Hybrid (1- or 2-days office based dependent on location)

Permanent, full time

CHEP has a vacancy for a Tax Compliance Officer to join our team!

You will be instrumental in supporting the Tax Compliance Manager in managing indirect & direct tax compliance for CHEP to ensure that effective processes and controls are in place to produce accurate and timely VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastats WHT returns.

Do you offer...?

5+ years’ experience in a corporate tax compliance role, ideally with managing internal tax affairs of multiple European jurisdictions

Previous proven Compliance or relevant department experience

Strong knowledge and understanding of VAT processes


Key Responsibilities

Cooperate with other Accounting teams and 3rd party providers to prepare VAT filings for domestic/non-domestic VAT, EC Sales Lists and Intrastats

Support tax reviews and research of compliance requirements

Assist with CIT and VAT audits

Complete monthly reconciliation of indirect tax accounts

Support Indirect Tax Manager (Europe) on ad hoc projects

Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are documented and updated

Development of an indirect tax compliance calendar

Ability to assess risks and evaluate impacts and develop appropriate, proportionate responses

Take part in the wider compliance function by assisting with training, providing management with written reports and other ad-hoc projects

Provide proactive advice, guidance, direction and interpretation as regards to Compliance issues and develop Compliance relationships across the designated areas of the business

Responsible for decision making on items that will enter the tax returns, based on extensive experience
