JOB TITLE:

Accounts/Tax Manager

ROLE TYPE (permanent/temporary):

Permanent/Full Time (*office-based*)

LOCATION:

Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK (Office Based)

HOURS / DAYS (per week):

5 days (Monday to Friday), 37.5 hours per week (9am – 5.30pm)

SALARY RANGE:

£50,000 to £55,000 per annum (experience dependant)

NOTICE & PROBATION PERIODS:

Notice Period = 1 - 3 months / Probation Period = 3 months

BENEFITS / BONUSES / HOLIDAYS:

20 days holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays and more benefits to be confirmed during interview stages.

The role of an Accounts and Tax Manager is to build relationships with clients and have direct responsibility of client accounts and tax portfolios. They are responsible for the delivery of an outstanding service to all clients. The candidate should drive an organisational culture where people are strongly connected to the business’ vision, mission, and values. The role requires an influential individual who can build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and who can deliver for the business and for clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, leading client meetings and advising clients on various accounting and tax matters
  • Review Accounts and Tax Returns to ensure they meet HMRC and Companies House standards
  • Dealing with work allocation and prioritisation with Tax preparers to ensure good quality output and timely progress
  • Promoting and ensuring quality control of outgoing correspondence and tax returns in terms of style, spelling, layout and technical competence
  • Review team files to ensure all standards, quality and compliance requirements are met and issues identified
  • Hold responsibility for client relationships up to £200k of revenue to ensure the best possible value, advice and quality and compliance for clients
  • Assisting where required with the Company’s end of year reporting process for clients – typically these are P11Ds, Form 42, ATED returns if relevant. These are primarily drafted by the Tax preparers.
  • Ensure that all discussions, deadlines, and actions for client are delivered
  • Drive efficiency and profitability in standards and service using best practice through technology
  • Create and maintain strong and long-lasting relationships with clients, Directors, and staff
  • Contribute to a high performing culture where people live the vision, mission and values
  • Ensure client work complies with all legal and ethical standards and statutory regulations
  • Set performance measures, review performance, and take effective action to improve when off track
  • Be a strong role model for the organisations values and standards to develop a high-performance culture
  • Develop and maintain the highest standards of technical knowledge and expertise for self and others
  • Develop the team ensuring the voice of the team is heard
  • Provide industry leading insights, solutions, and advice to build the firm’s reputation and client base.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Previous portfolio management of accounts and tax work at a practice (ideally 2 years experience or more)
  • Client relationship development and maintenance
  • Experience with accountancy software suites
  • Audit / independent examination experience preferred but not required
  • Good knowledge of accounting software
  • Ideally Xero And Sage experience and knowledge

ANY SPECIFIC TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Qualified Accountant – ICAEW or ACCA (Part qualified with relevant experience will be considered)
  • Must have Right to Work in UK - No Sponsorships will be provided
  • STRONG knowledge and experience of Xero and Sage
