Job Description

Job PurposeTo assist with the management of MVLS Stores Operatives, directly reporting to the MVLS Stores Manager. The post holder is responsible for the supervision of the indoor processing Team, working closely with the outdoor delivery Team Leader (Logistics) and the shared Stores Operatives team to ensure an effective and efficient service. Main Duties and Responsibilities1. To be responsible for leading the Team within MVLS Stores. To meet customer expectations by ensuring tasks are carried out in a timely manner and that resources are utilised in the best possible way. To support the Stores Supervisor to deliver an efficient and effective service, applying stores processes and prioritising workload to keep in line with Service Level Agreements. 2. To deputise in the absence of the Stores management team; to co-ordinate the work of the Team and ensure an effective and efficient service is maintained. To be responsible for all building security matters while deputising.3. To manage the Team – ensuring that all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with Stores processes and university policy. Support the Stores Management Team with the implementation of the medium to long term plan to achieve a robust internal Quality Management System. 4. To ensure team compliance with University policies and procedures and with all relevant legislation and regulations.5. To ensuring that goods are received, processed and distributed direct to the bench top in a timely and appropriate manner – this involves on-going dialogue with the Team Leader (Logistics) (who is responsible for physical distribution of the material) to ensure the needs of research and teaching staff are met. 6. To motivate and inspire the Team by example, displaying behaviours that are consistent with this work ethic. A large part of this role will involve providing direct coaching and assisting in the development of the Team while intervening, when necessary, in resolving issues to maintain a healthy group dynamic. Communicating any issues that need to be escalated to Stores Management team.7. Ordering of stores stock items and maintaining the minimum and maximum levels. Ensuring any updates to quantities, warehouse locations and all other amendments are completed on Agresso system. Communicating any stock outages to Stores Supervisor to allow for alternatives to be purchased. 8. To support the Stores supervisor by reporting team activities against the Service Level Agreements and providing guidance to the Team based on management direction. Implementing any changes to process and procedures within the stores area, and ensuring Team are up to date with these.9. To carry out and provide assistance with other reasonable duties to support the work of the MVLS teams across both sites and other locations on request. Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential:A1. Standard Grades or equivalent vocational qualification (VQ 2/3 or equivalent , and experience of personal development in a similar role or; Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s).A2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software Desirable:B1. Working knowledge of Agresso system or equivalent SkillsEssential:C1. IT competenceC2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. C3. Ability to prioritise workload in a rapidly changing high pressure environment.C4. Ability to recognise and deal with problems in their infancy thereby preventing escalation. C5. A flexible and enthusiastic attitude.C6. Willingness to participate in training to acquire additional skills. C7. Ability to use lifting equipment.C8. Capable of working on own or as part of a team. Desirable:D1. Understanding of policies and procedures relative to the role. ExperienceEssential:E1. Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired necessary knowledge and skills in a similar area.E2 Manual handling experience. Desirable:F1. Full clean UK driver license Terms and Conditions Salary will be UoG Grade 4, £22,681 - £25,138 per annum. This post is part time (21 hours per week), and open ended (permanent).
