Job Description
A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Technical Officer to join their adaptations team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to visit the homes of service users to assess the property and discuss disabled adaptations, repairs/improvements/ energy efficiency, home safety and security, giving advice/support in identifying the most appropriate solutions.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
prepare risk assessments and ensure that all staff and contractors are working to the Health and Safety standards of the Service, the Council and in line with legislation and policy.
design and prepare plans, technical drawings and schedules of work for applications and enquiries relating to a range of grants and assistance such as Home Repairs Assistance, Disabled Facilities Grants to meet the needs of individual service users,. Checking external plans and designs where these are developed by others.
ensure that grants are costed correctly and that legislation and regulations with regard to correct means testing documentation are adhered to.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require building / surveying qualification or relevant knowledge and experience.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
experience of supervising building contracts and producing plans and risk assessments
ability to assess repairs, energy efficiency, home safety/security and disabled adaptations and use Computer Aided Design to prepare plans.
ability to recognise and resolve potential building problems whilst carrying out property surveys/assessments.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £20 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
