Overview

Responsible for selling Environmental products in the United Kingdom & Ireland territories, generating and managing sales leads, carrying out technical product presentations and demonstrations, attending conferences and exhibitions, acquiring and analyzing sales and market information, assisting in promotion efforts, advising management on market and sales strategies to achieve desired business outcomes.

Job Qualifications

Education

BS or MS in biology, plant physiology, environmental sciences, or related field.

Experience

  • Deep understanding and practical experience in plant physiology, biology, environmental sciences, or related field.
  • Solid technical knowledge and familiarity with the techniques and laboratory procedures fundamental to plant physiology, environmental physics, climate change or related field. Experience using photosynthesis instrumentation is preferred.
  • Technical sales experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in presenting technical seminars and conducting instrument demonstrations.
  • Proficiency in organizing time and territory activities in order to efficiently maximize sales results. Experience in investigating and entering new sales and business opportunites.
  • Able to interact effectively with customers to build relationships and assist with basic technical issues and troubleshooting.

  • Highly developed sense of integrity, ethics, and loyalty.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal/written) and a strong ability to communicate in English (verbal/written). Proven record of building business and customer relationships.
  • Team player. Enjoys and works well with other people in a team environment. Displays a positive attitude.
  • Highly organized and displays working knowledge and appropriate use of Salesforce or equivalent CRM.

  • May require up to 60% travel or more in assigned territory.

Position Responsibilities

Specific

  • May require up to 60% travel or more in assigned territory.
  • Actively sell LI-COR Environmental products in the assigned territories. This includes qualifying and follow-up of sales leads generated by LI-COR from promotional activities, customer visits, referrals, conferences and trade shows, etc. Answer incoming phone calls and emails. Provide technical sales consultation to customers by using application and instrument knowledge to recommend proper instrument configurations and accessories to customers. Implement an effective follow-up system for inquiries and sales leads, and qualify, follow up and nurture sales leads through the entire sales process to closing the sale. Maintain consistent customer contact. Generate quotations and complete the necessary paperwork for bids, tenders and purchasing departments. Develop and maintain a high level of proficiency in using sales software. Assist in selling outside of the territory as needed.
  • Search for and generate new sales leads and customer referrals from various sources.
  • Evaluate and recommend where product demonstrations and technical presentations should be done, arrange logistics, and assist and/or conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Analyze current sales and future sales potential in territory and develop a sales plan to maximize the market potential. Recommend goals for sales volume and market share.
  • Provide regular reports to management of sales activities, status of sales leads, and projected sales.
  • Provide territory plan and updated forecast based on territory.
  • Record all customer communications, correspondence, activities, opportunity information, and demo reports in Salesforce in a timely fashion.
  • Represent LI-COR at exhibitions and conferences and provide planning and logistical support.
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Gather and summarize data for evaluation of market impact, market size and share, and market strategies. Acquire and provide market information to management, including information about customer needs, their suggestions for product improvements, new product ideas, user problems, competition, etc. Advise management in helping to formulate overall marketing plan.
  • Assist in the sales training of other LI-COR employees and representatives.
  • Assist in the planning process; consider future products and competition to develop marketing strategies; discuss feedback on issues and opportunities.
