Summary of Role:


Capula has a large volume of engineering and digital employees and an increasing Apprenticeship population which we plan to grow significantly again this year. As a result, we now require an additional training professional to help train, develop and support all our engineering employees. We are therefore seeking an individual with a proven passion for Electrical Engineering / Software who has either previously worked as an engineer or worked in an Engineering Education environment supporting learners. The role will support all engineers, across all disciplines from Apprentices to Principal Engineers as we believe in lifetime learning for employees at all levels throughout their career. Main Activities


  • Working with the Learning and Development Advisor and the engineering leads to lead all aspects of engineering training within Capula.
  • Advising on engineering training interventions in all disciplines and ensure appropriate provider/delivery
  • Work with the Engineering Managers to refresh and upskill their engineering populations
  • Develop and advise on technical training content as and when required.
  • Create a positive environment by engaging with learners/employees and balance aspirations with reality
  • Help all learners/employees develop confidence in their abilities as they progress through their courses.
  • Challenge decision making positively and with consideration.
  • Support engineering development reviews and input into annual reviews
  • Support all other areas of training and development across Capula as needed
  • Constant advocate for continual professional development and demonstrate in own attitude and behaviour



Main Activities - Apprentices


  • Lead the Apprenticeship scheme and support apprentices on all aspects throughout their education journey
  • Attend regular reviews with the learners and the education providers. Circa 60 apprentices
  • Ensure effective communication between the Education Providers Lead, Learner, Mentor and Capula, to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Work with the education providers to ensure content is relevant and appropriate and discuss how gaps can be closed
  • Understand the planned curriculum for the learners and provide support where needed.
  • Work with the Engineering Managers to identify suitable project work to enhance learning and ensure KSBs can be achieved.
  • Lead the mentor network and offer guidance & support as and when required.
  • Lead reviews on logbooks and KSB’s with Embedded & Digital Apprentices.
  • Develop a technical environment for the apprentices to learn hands on technical skills (longer term).


Essential Requirements:


  • Either worked as an Electrical Control Systems Engineer or experience delivering Electrical Engineering courses.
  • Ability to Coach and Mentor learners
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels, written and oral
  • Work with the values of the company and set an example for behaviour’s and
  • Appropriate qualification in an Electrical/Electronic/control system/software Engineering related field


Desirable Requirements:


  • BEng Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring
