DCC require an experienced writer and document assurer to provide an advanced drafting capability and, in parallel, to make improvements to the templates and processes used to create and share high quality documents.

This role will support the improvement in the quality of documentation so it is better suited for its target audience(s) and communicates relevant information even more effectively. It will involve authoring/ review/ assurance of various business documentation, developed by DCC for use as internal artefacts and/ or to share externally. The role will also support the development of improved assurance and governance processes around how DCC manages and shares documents with its wide range of customers and stakeholders.

Support DCC teams, and in particular DCC programmes to create and review formal documentation to a high standard in preparation for publication and submission to industry regulatory bodies such as OFGEM and/or for sharing with our customers through a variety of different routes. Tailor documentation to different audiences, taking into account reader needs, context and DCC objectives in sharing information.

  • Work with DCC programme teams in the planning and initiation of new documentation requirements. Where necessary, collate and author standard programme information and artefacts to be used across programme documents, this includes programme introduction and background context.
  • Lead the high-quality authoring of selected business documentation, including business cases. Facilitate and lead author documentation to a high standard, in support of current delivery.
  • Tailor documents written by you or elsewhere so they are appropriate for different stakeholders and customers, taking into account background knowledge, confidentiality requirements and the purpose of the engagement.

Consider, develop and advise on improvements to document templates, assurance and governance to ensure all documentation is written, reviewed and maintained in line with good practice. Advise on establishment of a DCC ‘knowledge hub’ including as a repository for templates and documentation.

The writer will likely spend time on a series of smaller products and artefacts with more immediate timelines, as well as larger, long-term products.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of authoring high-quality documentation for clients in the energy industry, regulated industries or central government.

  • They will be experienced at working in a complex and heavily regulated environment with multiple stakeholders, and in collaborating with multi functional teams .
  • They will have excellent communication skills and stakeholder management allowing them to tailor communications to explain complex issues concisely and clearly.
  • Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in writing business cases, embedding quality document writing within large organisations, and in the assurance and governance of written documentation and records.
  • Candidates will need to demonstrate strong leadership, demonstrate coaching skills to help others learn from them, and be able to manage and prioritise time and workload and adapt to changing priorities.
