Telecommunications Engineer
Location: Quinton, Birmingham
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
Working Days: Monday – Friday
My client based in Quinton is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to join their team. As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will work with a dedicated team to provide a high level of technical expertise and customer service to our clients. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in telecoms or IT support with a desire to learn new skills and progress in their career.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service, exceeding customer expectations.
- Use Supplier Portals to manage systems and faults.
- Generate, monitor, and handle customer requests, issues, and fault reports.
- Support the technical lead on installation projects.
- Liaise with customers and 3rd party IT professionals to ensure quality delivery and support of solutions.
- Produce detailed technical documentation on system installation and support procedures.
- Provide customer training.
Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of VoIP, SIP, RTP, TCP & UDP protocols, Layer 2 and 3 routing, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, LANs & WANs, and familiarity with using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark.
- Experience or knowledge of telecommunications solutions including call center and call recording applications (e.g., Gamma Horizon, Microsoft Teams, Splicecom, Wildix, and NEC) – full training provided where necessary.
- Minimum of 2 years IT or Telecoms support experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and online.
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments requiring teamwork and flexibility.
- Ability to track and keep projects on schedule, manage tight deadlines, and shift priorities at a moment’s notice.
- Full UK driving license.
