Job summary SWP stands for Senior (CWP or EMHP) Wellbeing Practitioner and is a new role within the low-intensity workforce, within children and young peoples mental health services. The SWP role has been introduced to: Provide career progression for CWPs and EMHPs. Increase supervision capacity within services. Extend CWP and EMHP low intensity clinical skillset in response to feedback on the needs of children, young people, and families in educational and community settings.In addition to developing your supervision skills, this training is an opportunity to extend your low intensity skills to work with mild to moderate presentations of OCD, self-harm, trauma, tics and EBSA and to adapt your practice for neurodivergent presentations.The Senior Wellbeing Practitioner Postgraduate Diploma is a part-time two-year course. You will attend training as part of your role in the service in which you are employed. During the first term, SWPs will attend 2 days of University training (Mondays and Fridays) and will spend the remaining three days working within their service. After the second term, training days reduce to once a week (Friday). During university holidays, students will be expected to be working in their service full time. University teaching will take place at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, KCL.On successful completion of the course the individual(s) will receive a Postgraduate Diploma Senior (CWP/EMHP) Wellbeing Practice (SWP). Main duties of the job To contribute further to the development of early intervention and prevention service in Bromley for Children and Young People. The post represents a development opportunity for a qualified practitioner, who is committed to the principles of CYP IAPT and THRIVE, to further their career into a Senior practice role. The post holder will provide adviceand support to young people and their families through workshops and small groups to provide them with information on how to maintain their emotional wellbeing.The post-holder will work closely with schools in Bromley borough to support delivery of the three core functions of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs): Evidence-based interventions for mild-moderate mental health issues. Supporting introduction or development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing. Providing timely advice and professional consultation to school and college staff and liaising with external specialist services to help children and young people to get the right support.Work will be carried out in schools, digitally, some community settings and involve some home visits to ensure in-reach to young people who would not normally access services. The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for other aspect of this work will be developing evidence-based content forworkshops and other online resources. This is a two-year Recruit to Train Trainee role which will be based in our Mental Health SupportTeam (MHST). Job description Job responsibilities MAIN DUTIES To provide an evidenced based service for children and young people as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs To provide advice, support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing of children and their families To take responsibility for liaising with Practice Leads within the team and other Practitioners, to support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to support continuous improvement and young person-centred car Liaise with a number of primary and secondary schools, providing consultation and planning interventions through regular Support and Advice Meetings with School Mental Health Leads and other relevant pastoral staff To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff To work across agencies to develop a co-ordinated response to children and young peoples mental health needs Encourage user-involvement and co-production in furthering best practices and striving for quality assurance in data returns for qualitative and quantitative service evaluations to inform and improve further service development To work alongside others to demonstrate knowledge and skills to plan and critically evaluate the implementation of the early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children and young peopleSWP TRAINEE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESThis is a training role within the CYP-MH programme. The SWP training is for qualified CWPs and EMHPs who have undertaken the respective Graduate or Postgraduate Certificate/ Diploma. The programme aims to extend the clinical skillset of CWPs and EMHPs by providing specialist training in a broader range of presentations as well as supervisor training for low-intensity interventions. Person Specification Experience Essential Ideally over two years experience of clinical supervised practice of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations. Experience of undertaking assessment of emotional and mental health needs children and young people. Experience of working with multi-agency partners and planning best outcomes for children and young people. Experience and understanding of working with Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs). Knowledge and skills Essential Ability to listen empathetically to children and young people and their families in order to work effectively in partnership. Qualities essential to practice, include, respect, genuineness, empathy, personal integrity and communication skills, to enable the therapeutic relationship and process. Ability to work in partnership with children, families and multidisciplinary professionals. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to deliver training packages on child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health, including delivering psycho education children, young people and their families. Knowledge and skills to offer emotional wellbeing and mental health consultation and training delivery to a wide number of professionals and stakeholders. Demonstrate skills to assess risk using already established assessment tools and if necessary, develop protocols with families and other staff / practitioners to manage risk. Ability to manage a caseload. Desirable Demonstrate knowledge and skills in identifying systems for supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health needs in the community and facilitating access for young people and families. Knowledge of MHST national strategy and relevant national policies and guidance in relation to childrens services and knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young peoples welfare in line with the Children Act 2004 requirements and Keeping Children Safe in Education. Qualifications Essential Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health at Post Graduate level CBT, CYP IAPT via EMHP and CWP pathways. Enhanced DBS Professional membership registration (one of the following): BABCP, BACP, UKCP, HCPC, GMC, NMC.
