Cornerstone are looking for a Transactional Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Compliance team on an 18 month fixed term contract as part of an evolving space within the business.

The Transactional Legal Counsel will provide dedicated legal support to the Estates Renewals project having responsibility for delivering the legal completion of a quantity of Code Agreement transactions internally. The role will work closely with an Asset Manager within the Estates Team and would be responsible for the end-to-end Code Agreement transactions instructed to them. The role would report directly into the Senior Property Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and check agreed Heads of Terms, liaise with the Site Provider’s Solicitor to ensure it is similarly instructed and check any site-specific queries that may affect the legal process.

• Prepare the draft Code Agreement using Cornerstone’s library of template contracts. This will be drafted in accordance with the guidance notes provided by the Legal & Compliance Team.

• Negotiate the Code Agreement with the Site Provider’s Solicitor in accordance with the parameters and processes set out in the guidance notes provided by the Legal & Compliance team.

• Regularly check-in with senior members of both the Estates and Legal & Compliance Team and provide updates on how the overall case-load is progressing.

• Legally complete Code Agreements (and associated tasks) in line with Cornerstone’s procedures.

Person Specification

• Two years post-qualification experience in conveyancing / commercial property.

• A robust understanding of the conveyancing process (Landlord/Tenant law).

• A keen eye for detail, as well as an enthusiastic and proactive approach.

• A collaborative team player with excellent organizational skills.

• Proficient in all Microsoft Word applications
