Job Description
STRATEGIC
- Devote necessary time, attention, and skill to perform Transport Managerial duties as agreed with the Client.
- Undertake duties expertly and diligently, utilizing commercial, technical, financial, and creative skills.
- Keep the Board informed of project progress and provide written reports as requested.
OPERATIONAL
- Manage, audit, and review compliance systems to ensure effectiveness.
- Review any shortcomings in compliance systems and address them accordingly.
- Ensure timely notification of relevant changes in standards and legislation.
Drivers – Administration:
- Ensure that drivers hold the appropriate license for the vehicle they are driving, including non-GB vocational drivers from EU member states.
- Conduct regular checks on drivers' licenses.
- Verify that vocational drivers hold a valid driver CPC qualification.
- Maintain records of drivers' hours for a period of no less than 12 months and make them available upon request.
- Maintain records of working time for a period of no less than 24 months and make them available upon request.
Drivers – Management:
- Ensure compliance with driving hours rules, whether EU or Domestic Hours rules.
- Monitor and ensure accurate recording of duty, driving time, and rest breaks by drivers.
- Download and store data from vehicle digital tachograph units and drivers' tachograph smart cards as required.
- Retain drivers' hours records and ensure their availability during the relevant period.
- Ensure retention of records for the purposes of the Working Time Directive (WTD).
- Ensure drivers are adequately trained and competent to operate all relevant vehicles and equipment.
- Contribute to relevant training and disciplinary processes as required.
Drivers - Operations:
- Ensure drivers complete and return driver defect reporting sheets accurately.
- Ensure all drivers and mobile workers take adequate breaks and periods of daily and weekly rest as per relevant regulations.
Vehicles – Administration:
- Retain vehicle maintenance records for a period of no less than 15 months and make them available on request.
- Ensure vehicles are specified as required and that operator license discs are current and displayed correctly.
- Ensure vehicle payloads notifications are correct, height indicators are fitted and correct, and tachograph calibrations are up to date and displayed.
- Maintain up-to-date certificates of insurance for company cars, commercial vehicles, and plant.
- Complete and display a suitable maintenance planner, setting preventative maintenance inspection dates at least 6 months in advance, including the Annual Test and other testing or calibration dates.
Vehicles - Management:
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are kept in a fit and roadworthy condition.
- Record defects either in writing or in a readily accessible format and ensure prompt repairs.
- Take vehicles and trailers that are not roadworthy out of service.
- Make vehicles and towed equipment available for safety inspections, service, repair, and statutory testing.
- Ensure safety inspections and other statutory testing are carried out within the notified O-license maintenance intervals (ISO weeks).
- Liaise with maintenance contractors, manufacturers, hire companies, and dealers to ensure vehicles and trailers are serviced in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
The candidate must have Transport Manager’s CPC (Level 3 Qualification)
