We’re looking for someone to join our Underwriting team as a n MI Analyst in our Haywards Heath, West Sussex office .
In this role you will work within a small team to create and disseminate high quality Management Information and Performance reports to the Underwriting pillar and wider business.

You’ll be great in this role if you have:
A degree in a Numerical or Analytical field
Experience in a similar role using data visualisation , ideally Power BI or similar
Data manipulation and coding experience
Whats Involved
Play a key role in the development of the Underwriting Performance Monitoring Suite through building new reports, enhancing existing reports and generating ideas for future reporting requirements for the team.
Help to set MI best practice and adhere to high quality coding standards and documentation. Work with other teams across the business to align coding standards, variable definitions and consistency across key shared business metrics.
Ensure Underwriting Management Information is produced with a level of quality to enable accurate business decision making
Assist the Data Transformation Programme through supporting analysis, factor definition and contribution towards creation of key concepts within the Azure data platform
Contribute to the development and maintenance of analytical tools and reporting suites to enable the efficient and accurate operation of Underwriting Performance Monitoring and Assurance activities– including:
Creation and maintenance of analysis programs, tools, and predictive models written in SAS, RADAR, EMBLEM, Python/ R and other software packages
Production of ad-hoc analyses to support business decision making
Example output may include:
Summaries of expected loss ratio by factor and recommendations for remedial action
Standardised analysis/reports assessing the efficacy of recent Underwriting changes
Factor by Factor portfolio monitoring provided to business stakeholders to include commentary and recommended actions
Support the ongoing function of the Underwriting and Assurance Team through:
Ongoing analysis of Competitor Underwriting activity and Market Developments
Compiling timely and accurate information/analysis for management decision-making purposes
Clear communication of findings within internally generated reports
Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with , the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times
Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times ,
Proactively own personal development – researching and learning about new tools, techniques, and data sources which may benefit the team, under the guidance of the Underwriting MI Lead
Your Experience
Previous experience working within an analytical, BI or MI role
E xperience in use of data visualisation tools such as PowerBI
Experience with analytical programming languages, such as SAS, SQL, Python and R .
Knowledge of statistical methods and analytical techniques
Knowledge of personal lines general insurance preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Good time management and organisation skills
Minimum 2:1 in a numerical undergraduate discipline
Strong mathematical skills
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
Data and statistical analysis skills preferred
Strong IT skills (including data visualisation, Excel and ideally programming skills) preferred
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Logical thinker with solid reasoning ability
Commercially focussed
