Job Description

An opportunity for an experienced Pharmaceutical Utilities and Effluent Operations Team Leader to oversee the efficient and compliant operation of our utilities and effluent systems. You will lead a dedicated team to ensure the continuous and safe operation of utilities, including water, steam, chemicals and effluent treatment systems. We are looking for strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of environmental and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of operators in the utilities and effluent operations department.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development of team members.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.
  • Oversee the daily operation of utility systems, including water supply, steam generation, Clean in Place (CIP), compressed air, and effluent treatment.
  • Ensure all systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent downtime.
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols for utilities and effluent operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Lead and participate in projects related to the upgrade, expansion, or optimization of utility and effluent systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and other departments to ensure project goals are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of system operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and present regular measurement (KPI's) on system performance, issues, and improvement initiatives to senior management.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Process or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of cGMPs and manufacturing operations in FDA regulated facility.
  • Experience in utilities and effluent operations within the pharmaceutical or a related industry.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of utility systems, including water treatment, steam generation, CIP, and effluent treatment.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices for pharmaceutical, environmental, health, and safety compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
