As the Indirect Tax Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee VAT and indirect tax compliance for the group on a global scale. With their expanding presence in multiple countries, including subsidiaries in four nations and distribution in over 50 markets, your role is pivotal in ensuring accurate treatment of their products in each jurisdiction, as well as meticulous recording, reporting, and remittance of VAT, sales taxes, and other applicable duties and levies. While reporting to the Head of Tax, you will spearhead all matters related to indirect taxes. Your day-to-day tasks will encompass a diverse range of activities, from providing guidance on new product launches to navigating tax implications in emerging markets. Here's a glimpse of what your role entails:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing VAT returns across EMEA, collaborating with tax advisors as needed.
  • Oversee VAT submissions and payments to ensure timely compliance.
  • Aid the Head of Tax in addressing ad hoc tax and customs projects, both domestically and internationally.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for Intrastat and EC sales listing declarations.
  • Handle VAT-related correspondence and notices from tax authorities, including supporting in indirect tax audits by providing necessary data and responses to inquiries.
  • Assist in interpreting and developing analytical reviews of new indirect tax policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support the team in implementing the long-term VAT technology strategy, particularly concerning Making Tax Digital initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to raise awareness of VAT issues, offer guidance on invoicing, and review VAT accounting entries and ledgers.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a multinational company, ideally within an indirect tax function, or from a background in accounting and tax advisory services.
  • Professional qualification in accounting or tax, with preference for CTA accreditation.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities such as Vlookups, Pivot tables, and Sum If.
  • Comfortable leading and implementing system and process changes.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with senior management and challenging commercial teams.
  • Able to interact confidently with a diverse range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial.
  • Logical and methodical thinker with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Enthusiastic about driving change and improving existing processes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage workload within a dynamic business environment.
