Job Description

Do you have a passion for emergency work within a very experienced, welcoming team in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside?

With two very well equipped clinics in the beautiful Border towns of Leominster and Ludlow, Marches Vets is a very friendly, busy 100% SA first opinion Country Practice with lovely clients and even lovelier staff who are deeply committed to our local community.

We strive to provide high quality, good value and compassionate care to our patients, both during the day and at night, and we hospitalise all of our in-patients at our Leominster clinic.

Our out of hours caseload is relatively modest and clients tend to be very grateful for the personal service that we provide. We are looking for two Veterinary Surgeons to support and expand our weekend and out of hours service by providing telephone advice, emergency treatment and surgery and in-patient care to our hospitalised patients alongside our close-knit team of very experienced and highly motivated nurses.

Support and advice will also be provided by our 24-hour clinic at Medivet Shrewsbury. In addition, there will be some routine and emergency consultation periods. Vets’ clinical work will be based at our Leominster Practice, but they will be free to travel into the clinic out of hours from a local radius should they so choose.

These are new roles to the practice which can be moulded to you - we are extremely flexible and would like to adapt the role to fit the person rather than the other way around, being happy to consider flexible working or job sharing.

These are permanent positions and we are proposing working shifts to be either Monday to Friday 5 pm to 12am in the form of a twilight shift or a weekend from Friday evening until Monday morning which includes emergency work and some routine consults on Saturday.

In recognition of the antisocial hours and the requirement for vets to be confident first opinion clinicians who are happy to take sole charge of the clinic with experienced nursing support, we are offering a competitive salary package.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary £60,000 - £90,000 per annum (depending on experience, hours and role)
  • Attractive and flexible choice of shift patterns
  • CPD allowance with 2 days’ CPD leave Pro rata and in-house CPD training
  • VDS, RCVS and BVA fees paid
  • Outstanding career progression and opportunities for Certificate or other postgraduate training.

Medivet is growing rapidly and it is an exciting time to join us. We encourage growth and development within your role and are truly committed to helping our staff to achieve their goals.
